Faced with changes in beauty ideals, shifting demographics and ongoing criticism of Barbie’s impossible proportions, Mattel™ decided to remake the iconic blonde. The new body shapes follow the addition of new skin tones and hair textures last year (2015).
Nearly every girl in the western world has grown up with a Barbie to call her own, together with her friends, the iconic doll with long legs and flowing blonde hair ( The “true American girl”) accompanied her on trips to the park, picnics and playgrounds!
Now, it’s been a long time coming, but the day has come!

Congratulations on bringing Barbie into the current century, it's inspiring to see that diverse body shapes and heights and sizes are being celebrated. Fit, comfortable, stylish and fearless!
We’d love to see Barbie address areas of disabilities, self expression and real “girl” unmentionables! With so much influence at such a young age, Barbie would be a fantastic ambassador to celebrate life leading up to womanhood - yep… periods, menstruation, light bladder leakage and all!
