World Continence Week - What it's like living with LBL

World Continence Week - What it's like living with LBL

Jun 25, 2018Alice Cheng

Last week was world continence week, or what we like to call Puss-Ups Week! And here at Modibodi, we are celebrating because we understand the importance of recognising LBL and keeping the conversation going. LBL (light bladder leakage) is something 1 in 3 women experience at some point in their lives. It can be caused by pregnancy, after childbirth as pressure on the bladder weakens the pelvic floor muscles, pelvic floor surgery, thyroid disorders or neurological conditions like Parkinson's disease, menopause and sometimes it just happens.

There are two kinds of urinary incontinence: stress incontinence and urge incontinence.

  • Stress incontinence, urine leaks out during coughing sneezing, coughing, laughing or exercising.
  • Urge incontinence is a desperate need to go to the toilet due to spasms in the bladder muscle. Sometimes this results in leaking

We all can relate, you know that woops feeling when you’ve laughed a little too hard on a full bladder or when someone is tickling you when you really need to go to the ladies. We understand that It can be a very anxious time for experiencing LBL, a lack of bladder control and pelvic floor strength can be debilitating and extremely frustrating, enough to make you reconsider going to see a film or attending Friday night girly drinks with your friends. That's why we are encouraging the conversation not only this week but always for women to come forward to talk about their experiences with LBL, as a way of breaking down barriers and taboos, as it is a condition that affects 37% of Australian women and 17% of Men.

Modibodi provides women of ALL ages experiencing LBL the confidence to go out without worrying about their leaks and experience life to the fullest. With more stylish, comfortable and most effective way to manage our LBL without having to continually buy bulky pads which leave you feeling like you are sitting in a puddle all day.

So if you’re one of the literally MILLIONS of Aussie women who experience LBL you should definitely not be ashamed. Just like the wrinkles on your face it's a sign of an active and well-lived life with lots of laughter and jumping up and down to your favourite song.
